The Ultimate Guide to Firewood for a Warm and Cozy Home
As the winter months approach, many of us are looking for ways to keep our homes warm and cozy. One of the most effective and traditional ways to do so is by using firewood. But with so many options available, it can be difficult to know where to start.
In this article, we’ll explore the benefits of using firewood for warmth, as well as provide tips on how to choose the right type of firewood for your needs.
The Benefits of Firewood
Firewood is a natural and eco-friendly way to heat your home. Unlike gas or oil-based heating systems, firewood produces no emissions or pollutants, making it a healthier option for you and your family. Additionally, firewood can be a cost-effective way to heat your home, especially when compared to other forms of heating.

Choosing the Right Type of Firewood
When it comes to choosing the right type of firewood, there are several factors to consider. The most important factor is the moisture content of the wood. Look for wood with a moisture content of 20% or less, as this will burn more efficiently and produce less smoke.
Another important factor to consider is the type of wood. Different types of wood have different burning properties and can produce different levels of heat. Some popular types of firewood include oak, ash, and birch.
Tips for Burning Firewood
Once you’ve chosen the right type of firewood, there are several tips you can follow to ensure that you get the most out of your firewood. These include:
- Using a fire starter to help get the fire going
- Keeping the fire contained in a fire pit or fireplace
- Monitoring the temperature of the fire to ensure that it’s burning efficiently
- Cleaning up any ashes or debris after the fire has burned out
By following these tips and choosing the right type of firewood, you can enjoy a warm and cozy home without breaking the bank.

FAQ
Dried Orise firewood is dried in an industrial oven at high temperatures, eliminating all bugs and insects and bringing moisture content below 15%. This makes the wood burn more easily, evenly, and efficiently than other firewood. This also results in the wood producing less creosote, which means a cleaner burn requiring less chimney maintenance.
Unlike Green or Seasoned Wood, Orise Firewood has less than 15% moisture content and contains no bugs, insects, or mold. Wood that is not Orise Firewood tends to have more than 25% moisture content, which results in requiring more kindling to start the fire, a less even burn when the fire gets going, and produces more creosote.
